'There would have been no controversy, if the songs of 'Pazhassi Raja' were hits: Ouseppachan

Cochin, Nov.22 (NR): As the controversy regarding music maestro Ilaiyaraja's comments regarding lyricist ONV's lyrics for the songs of the magnum opus 'Pazhassi Raja' is brewing up, comments have been pouring in from various film personalities.

National Award winning music director Ouseppachan feels that there would have been no controversy had the songs of 'Pazhassi Raja' been chart busters.

He was talking at the Meet the Press programme organized by the Thrissur Press Club.

There was no need for an allegation as this, one year after the song was composed, and one month after the film was released. Or else the director should have changed the song itself or perhaps should have found a substitute for either the music director or the lyricist, he said. There is no reason for the director to compromise, especially since so much money has been pumped into this production.

Ouseppachan is currently working on the Kamal film, 'Aagathan'. The film marks the coming together of Ouseppachan and Kamal after a long seventeen years.
