Ranjith not to screen 'Kerala Cafe' at IFFK

Cochin, Oct.31 (NR): Barely a day after the selection of Malayalam films to the IFFK to be held in Dec.2009 has been made public, a controversy seems to be brewing.
Director Ranjith has decided not to screen his latest film 'Kerala Cafe' at the IFFK. He has expressed strong objection to the category in which his film has been included. 'Kerala Cafe' has been selected to the 'Malayalam Cinema Today' section. Ranjith however feels that his film must have made it to the Competition section.
Ranjith also commented that his film has been avoided to please certain vested interests. He also sarcastically commented that when it comes to judicious selection, there isn't much of a difference between Delhi and Kerala.
Priyanandanan's 'Sufi Paranja Katha' and Madhu Kaithapram's 'Madhya Venal' have been selected to the Competitive section. Click the Movie button below for more info:
