Paradesi, the off-beat Mohanlal-starrer directed by P.T. Kunhimuhammed, has been selected for the Cairo International Film Festival, scheduled to begin on November 18th. The film has reportedly been selected to be shown in the special Human Rights section.

Paradesi, which besides Mohanlal, had Padmapriya, Shwetha Menon, Lakshmi Gopalaswami, Jagathy Sreekumar, Siddique etc. in key roles, tells the story of Valiyakaththu Moosa, an Indian who had gone to Pakistan before partition and who, after partition finds himself looked upon as a Pakistani and even as a spy in his own land.

The film was noted for its sensitive portrayal of the plight of several such people, who are neither here nor there - all inspired by real life characters. Mohanlal had impressed many, playing the aged Valiyakaththu Moosa in the film.
