'Mammootty vs Mammootty' makes it to the top

Kochi, May 3 (IANS) Mammootty's recently released "Balram vs Tharadas" is the most successful film of the fortnight.

The top five Malayalam films are:

1. "Balram vs Tharadas" - Mammootty's double role as characters from two of his successful films pitted against each other has made this film a winner. Directed by veteran I.V. Sasi, the film is perhaps the most expensive to be made in Malayalam.

2. "Rasathantram" - Mohanlal's Vishu release loses its top position but this is the most appreciated film of the season. Directed by Satyan Anthikad, the film has Meera Jasmine in the female lead.

3. "Thuruppu Gulan" - Mammootty's comedy caper directed by Johnny Antony is popular with children. Even the publicity material of the film has targeted the young ones only.

4. "Pachakuthira" - This Dilip starrer is also meant for kids. Directed by Dileep's mentor Kamal, the film has him playing a mentally challenged person, and his antics are going down well with the kids.

5. "Chintamani Kolacase" - This film offers variety to the audience. The legal thriller starring Suresh Gopi directed by Shaji Kailas holds on to its position on the list.
