Lal bets on Pathayakozhi
Mar 14, 2007 NRIt is heard that Lal had initially wanted to make the film with one of the superstars, but after they refused to give him dates he decided to make the film with Narein in lead role. Narein, who played a key role in the blockbuster Classmates, is yet to open his account as an independent star. He hasn't had much sway over the box office as an independent hero.
Lal, teaming up with director M.A. Venu casts Narein in the role of an angry young man in Panthayakozhi. Narein, (earlier known as Sunil), had played the tough cop in For the People and its sequel By the People. He had also played the role of a henchman of a gangster in his first Tamil film Chiththiram Pesuthedi, the film that saw him get re-christened as Narein.
In Panthayakozhi, Narein plays Bharathan, a young fellow whose life meanders along a rough and gory terrain. Lal too plays a key role in the film, which has script by J. Pallassery based on story by director M.A. Venu. If the film turns out to be a hit, which in all likelihood it will given Lal Creations' track record, Lal would have been backing the right horse (or is it cock?), putting his money on Narein as Panthayakozhi.
