'Cycle' songs dominate Malayalam music chart

The top five Malayalam songs are:

1. "Puthiyoreenam" - Film: "Cycle"; Music: Mejo Joseph; Lyrics: Anil Panachooran; Singers: Karthik and Vineeth Sreenivasan. This New Year song with a "boys' night out" theme works out well.

2. "Kannadi Kottile" - Film: "Calcutta News"; Music: Deb Jyothi Misra; Lyrics: Sarath Varma; Singers: Chitra, Vanitha and Vijitha. This is a girls' day out song with the same effect as "Puthiyoreenam" from "Cycle".

3. "Varnapainkili" - Film: "Cycle"; Music: Mejo Joseph; Lyrics: Anil Panachooran; Singer: Vineeth Sreenivasan. A lovelorn Vineeth Sreenivasan acts and sings the song shot in Singapore.

4. "Snehathin Koodonnu" - Film: "College Kumaran"; Music: Ousepachan; Lyrics: Shibu Chakravarthi; Singers: Karthik and Aparna. A token song from the movie, it has Mohanlal dancing with a bunch of college students.

5. "Akale Oru" - Film: "Calcutta News"; Music: Deb Jyothi Misra; Lyrics: Sarath Varma; Singers: Chitra and Asmintha Sengupta. A distinct sound created by a Bengali composer has enhanced impact.
