Blessy eyes new frontiers
Jan 14, 2007 IANS"I am moving out to new frontiers because I am a creator. My next film, a blend of comedy, black magic and romance, would be shot entirely in Kolkata," Blessy told reporters here after his latest film 'Palunku' was screened for the media.
Produced by Thampi Antony, a US-settled actor, the new film would have Dileep and Meera Jasmine in lead roles.
'Palunku', the third film of Blessy released during the Christmas last year, has not done well at the box office as expected, compared to his all-time hits like 'Kazcha' and 'Thanmatra'.
"Palunku is nothing but a film that dwells into the Kerala society and talks about issues that have been discussed at length across the state for the past one decade. And this is no commercial gimmick and one meant to revive the fortunes of the film," said Blessy.
Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, leader of opposition Oommen Chandy and several other top politicians have already seen the film and are said to be satisfied.
"Politicians are not being used, but since they are the ones who influence the society, I felt the message of the film could be spread. More and more people are coming to see the film," said Blessy, who for long worked as an assistant to late filmmaker Padmarajan.
The film deals with the issues of globalisation and consumerism and addresses the issue of farmer suicides and harassment of women.
Superstar Mammootty plays a farmer, who moves from his village to a city to give better education to his two daughters. Click the Movie button below for more info:
