Adoor Bhavani is no more!

Adoor, Oct.25 (NR): Veteran actress Adoor Bhavani is no more! She passed away today at her residence in Adoor.

Bhavani had made her debut in the film 'Shariyo Thetto' directed by Thikkurishi. She had since acted in several films like Chemmeen, Mudiyana Puthran, Kalli Chellamma and Thulabharam just to mention a few.

Her portrayal of Chakki Marakkathi in Ramu Karyat's classic film Chemmeen, was considered as a landmark in her acting career. She also bagged the state award for best supporting actress in the same year, for her role in Kalli Chellamma. She was awarded the Chalachithra Saparya Lifetime Achievement award by Mathrubhumi-Medimix in 2002. In 2008, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy honoured Bhavani and her sister Adoor Pankajam for their overall contributions to theatre and drama.

The last film that she had acted in was the K. Madhu directed Sethuramaiyyer CBI.

The eight five year old actress has been suffering from severe ailments for a while now. She would forever be dearly missed by lovers of Malayalam cinema.
