Actress Kavya Madhavan and husband file for divorce
Oct 23, 2010 IANSGeorge Sebastian, secretary general of Kerala Congress (a ruling Left Democratic Front member), said that it was through his talks with the two estranged families that this solution was worked out.
'I have been in constant touch with both the families for the past two months. It was after several rounds of talks that it was decided that there will be no more washing of dirty linen in public. It was also agreed that she will withdraw her petition that was filed against Chandra and his family under the Domestic Violence Act (DVA),' Sebastian said.
It was in February last year that 24-year-old Kavya, the leading actress in the industry, got married to a computer engineer Nischal Chandra and decided to quit the industry - a decision that stunned many.
But things went for a toss and after a few months in Kuwait she returned here to be back with her parents.
The actress filed a petition July under the DVA and early this week Chandra filed a petition to quash her petition, which was turned down by the court.
'Today (Friday), both the parties appeared before the court and agreed to part. It is a matter of time before the divorce becomes official and legal,' said Sebastian.
After returning from Kuwait earlier this year, she made her comeback with 'Pappi Appacha' along with Dileep.
Born in Nileshwaram in Kasaragod district, Kavya entered the Malayalam film industry as a child artist in the film 'Pookkalam Varavayi' in 1991.
Her popular films include 'Meesha Madhavan', 'Madhamabhi', 'Classmates', 'Ananthabhadram', among others.
