National Awards: Aparna Best Actress; Ajay Devgn, Suriya Best Actors

Actress Aparna Balamurali bagged the Best Actress award at the 68th National Film Awards announced in New Delhi on Friday. The actress won the award for her fabulous performance in the Tamil film ‘Soorarai Pottru’, which also fetched the Best Actor award for Suriya along with Ajay Devgn for the film ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero’.


Biju Menon won the Best Supporting Actor award for the film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. ‘Thingalazhcha Nischayam’ is the Best Malayalam film. Nachiyamma was adjudged the Best Singer for the film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum,’ which also won the Best Action Choreography award.


Vipul Shah was jury chairman this year. This year, there were 305 feature films in 30 different languages as entries. In the non-feature film category, 148 films in 28 languages were received as entries. Films in 15 languages other than those specified in the 8th schedule of the Constitution were received as entries.
