Chaandupottu Malayalam Movie

Dileep plays a character with prominently feminine qualities; he was raised as a girl by his grandmother and mother because they had wished for a baby girl at the time of his birth. The complications that the hero Radhakrishnan (Dileep) faces in his adulthood due to his unusual upbringing form the crux of the story.

Writer Benny P. Nayarambalam can be trusted with delicate characters. He is the same person who gave us "Kunjikoonan", in which Dileep played a deformed hunchback. It was the treatment of character that won the day in the end.

Director Lal Jose and Dileep's association dates back to the days when they were assisting veteran director Kamal. Their friendship attained legendry status with the stupendous success of "Meesa Madhavan". But their recent outing with "Rasikan" proved to be a dud at the box-office during Christmas last year. So they both have a lot at stake with this film.

Gopika, who has not been given her due in the Malayalam industry till date, is the leading lady. Others in the cast include Bhavana, Biju Menon, Rajan P. Dev, Mala and Lal.

The shooting was extensively done on seashores near Alappuzha, Pondicherry and Goa. Azhgakappan is the cinematographer. Music is by Vidyasagar. Vayalar Sharathchandra Varma has written the songs.

Actor-producer Lal has taken up the production and distribution of the film. It is expected to hit the theatres by August end.
