The story of ‘Uttarachemmeen’ is inspired from the classic Malayalam movie 'Chemmeen'. The film presents certain characters in the movie ‘Chemmeen’ in a new perspective.

‘Chemmeen’ ends with Panchami accepting the son of her elder sister Karuthamma. Panchami brings up Karuthamma’s son, Azhakan, (Biyon) as her own and now he is a grown up man.

Azhakan is a smart guy in that area. He is in love with Neelippennu (Ansiba), daughter of Kochukali, who in turn is the daughter of Nallappennu in ‘Chemmeen’. But Kochukali is against the affair between Neelippennu and Azhakan.

Geeta Vijayan does the role of Panchami. Madhu is also seen in one of the major roles in ‘Uttarachemmeen’.

‘Uttarachemmeen’ is directed and filmed by Benny Asamsa. The sea shore areas of Thrikkunnapuzha and Neerkkunnam are the main locations. The movie is produced by Haridas Hyderabad.
