Anti-piracy cell for 'Dham Dhoom'
Aug 27, 2008 PVSAnnouncing this at a press conference in Chennai Surya Rajkumar of the production company, said "Tamil Thiraipada Padhugappu Kazhagam" formed by producer K. Rajan and Jeyaram Ravi's fan clubs would be associated with the working of the cell.
Ten phone lines will be opened at the office of Media One Global Entertainment and people can inform the cell if they come across pirated CDs of "Dam Doom" anywhere. The phone lines (numbers to be announced later) will be open round-the-clock.
Rajan, leader of the Tamil Thiraipada Padhugappu Kazhagam, said pirated CDs which used to be supplied from Malaysia and Singapore, are now available from neighbouring Pondicherry. Media One has made an appeal to the Pondicherry Government to take stringent action to prevent video piracy which affected the film industry.
Jeyam Ravi, who was present at the press conference, said good films do not run at theatres because families can easily get pirated CDs. Persons go to theatres to watch only such films which are not fit to be viewed by families.
He said "Dham Dhoom" is a family entertainer and so some steps are being taken to prevent piracy and one of these steps is the opening of the anti-piracy cell. He has written a letter to his fans asking them to contact the police if any pirated CDs are available in the market. Calling for a sustained campaign to create a public awareness against video piracy, Jeyam Ravi said he will work with young actors if they come forward to promote this campaign.
