An early morning call informing of an accident and death sets the ball rolling for a new investigation for Surjan Singh Shekhawat (Aamir Khan) - a case which turns into a life-altering chase for Suraj. He is forced to reel under the repercussions of a broken married life with wife Roshni played by actress Rani Mukerji and come face-to-face with his suppressed grief.
Being on his investigative quest and fighting it out with personal struggle, Suraj meets a sex worker Rosie, played by actress Kareena Kapoor, who adds shades of mystery to the puzzle.
What looks like a simple car accident investigation turns into a haunting mystery as further probe shows many anomalies were linked to the death of the victim.
