Sarkar Colony Malayalam Movie
V S Jayakrishna's Sarkar Colony concerns itself with the troubles and travails of a government servant Shivaramakrishnan (Mukesh) living in a Sarkar Colony. Working as a clerk in a government department, it doesn't comfort him much that his wife (Devayani) happens to be his superior at office.
Shivaramakrishnan is an embodiment of the common man here, who tries his hand at pretty much everything to make an extra buck. Here he joins a Money Chain scheme with disastrous consequences, and in the process of his downfall, pulls down a few of his friends along with him.
The film is thus a warning statement to those who are on the look out to make some quick money. Shivaramakrishnan is reprimanded by his wife and in-laws, for making a mess of his life, even while having a job where he could have some peace of mind, is he so desires.
This is what the film is essentially all about, and how far does it succeed in driving home the point? Not much, when you think about it. the money chain scheme is at the centre of the affairs till about half way, and then the film totally loses its focus and goes around in circles for the next hour.
Shivaramakrishnan and his friend (Ashokan) realize that they have been taken for a royal ride by the MD of the MLM scheme (Jagathy Sreekumar), and hence decide to invest in a new business. And what do they do? They start a daycare centre by the name of Daddy's Daycare, hoping to lure all the kids at the Sarkar Colony in.
As far as the film is concerned, this is the point that breaks it totally. Along with the arrival of Babykunju (Suraj Venjarammoodu), the new caretaker at the day care centre, things become unbearable. And the kids swear non stop, kick adults on their groins and in general, raise hell.
Most of the actors in the film are veterans, be it Mukesh, Jagathy or Ashokan, Devayani or Sona Nair. And no wonder that this is a cakewalk for all of them, as the characters never ever throw any fresh challenges on them.
The script has few challenges as well, or surprises for that matter and has been punched all over with double entendres galore. Some of them are make you wonder, what the purpose of it all is, except to rake up some crude laughter.
Sarkar Colony is a major let down, in terms of the story, the script as well as the execution. Given the kind of predictable fare that it is, it is likely to have a terrible time at the box office.
