Ashitha and debutant Dileep Pai are the saving face of the film Road Romeo directed by Sai Prakash. The film does not have any fresh aspects and it is an old wine in old bottle. A film which can be easily placed in the list of below ordinary films.

The film produced by a relatively unknown businessman Nandakumar is the launching pad for his brother Dileep Pai. An experienced director like Sai Prakash was handed over the responsibility of directing this film. Since both the hero and the producer were new to the film industry, it was the responsibility of Sai Prakash to churn out a good movie. But he has utterly failed to deliver what was expected of him and has written a shoddy script which is the bane of this film.

Sai Prakash has definitely not taken this project very seriously and this can be seen in every sequence of the film. The technical work in this film is also below standard. And the narration is so slow and boring that you will be forced to yawn many a times. Any film's music has always been playing an important role in a film's success. It is a significant role in attracting the audience in any new film which launched a new face. But Road Romeo fails even in its musical score.

The story revolves around a wayward and irresponsible youngster Dileep belonging to a lower middle class family leading a careless life. He is not interested in getting a job either and helping out his parents. At this point of time he meets Anjali and instantly falls for her. He is shocked when Anjali turns down his proposal for marriage. Anjali makes him understand that he is careless and spoiled. Dileep understands his follies and tries to be serious and self reliant. The remaining part of this film is a journey he undertakes to become responsible.

Such a yarn has hit the screen many times before and what could have been different is only the narration. But Sai Prakash is a past master in just mixing up sequences seen many times before. And the so called comedy that has been included in the film is horrible.

Dileep Pai is at ease in front of camera and showcases promise in his dancing and fighting skills. But alas, his launch pad product has little space to show his talents in acting. The film's heroine Ashitha, seen more in sister's roles in many films has done well. She proves her talents in emotional sequences and dances. She should go places after this film. But it is Avinash who shines in this film. Padma Vasanthi does a neat job.

Tennis Krishna and Anand have done their brand of comedy.

Road Romeo is a film for people who insist on an age old narration. Dileep Pai and Ashitha have proved their talents irrespective of the haphazard direction of Sai Prakash.

Rating : 1.5 / 5.
