Cheran plays the role of a hairdresser and Navya Nair is a beautician in a salon. Today's youth are the centre of the film's theme. Cheran promises that the film will be highly entertaining and also send out a strong message. Radha Ravi, who has taken a break for a while from acting, dons a role unusual for an actor like him. Actors Sarath Kumar, Arya, Malavika and Ranjitha make cameo appearances. The music is by Ilayaraja and the audio cassette and CD have registered a record sale in the State. Dwarakanath is the cinematographer and veteran producer Panchu Arunachalam's son, Subbu, produced the film.

In 'Maayakkannadi', however, he has made a departure and taken up a subject that revolves around urban youths and mirrored their aspirations and dreams. The movie puts a powerful message across to the youth. But Cheran seems to have not paid the required attention to the script. The film drags on for three hours. This tends to dim the focus.
