‘Kathamma’ is written and directed by cameraman-director M D Sukumaran. New faces do the main roles in this film. The movie is produced by Roy Malamakkal under the banner of Bogan Villa Films Ltd.
Kathamma elopes with her lover Sakthi, against the wishes of her parents and they settle in a hilly village, Nagamala. They live happily and make a livelihood as dhobis.
Sakthi’s elder brother Selvam comes to live with them. This is followed by tragic incidents in their life. Sakthi gets killed in an uncanny circumstance and Kathamma is forced to marry his brother Selvam.
When Kathamma realizes the truth behind her husband’s death, she decides to take revenge. Bijuram, Ashok Raj, Ali, Raveendran, Athira, Kovai Sarala, and Shivaji Mallika do the main roles.
