Writer-director Balakumaran dies

Noted writer, scenarist and director Balakumaran passed away in Chennai on Tuesday. The 71-year-old writer was suffering from breathing-related issues.
He died at Kaveri hospital, Chennai. “Nayagan”, “Guna”, “Gentleman”, “Jeans”, “Baasha”, “Citizen” and “Pudupettai” are some of the popular movies in which he worked. He had also directed K. Bhagyaraj-starrer “Idhu Namma Aalu.”
Born at Thirukattupalli in Thanjavur district, Balakumaran wrote over 150 novels in Tamil and worked as screenplay and dialogue writer for 14 films.
