Mannan starring Rajinikanth, Vijayshanthi and Khushbu was a great hit during the early nineties. The film was also said to be a satire of sorts of CM Jayalalitha. The comedy scenes involving Rajinikanth and Goundamani are telecast even now in comedy channels.
Yesterday certain sections of the media had reported that this film is going to be remade in Tamil with Vijay doing Rajinikanth’s role. It was also said that this would be the actor’s 61st film after he is done with his 60th with Bharathan. The film was stated to be produced by Sivaji productions that produced the original Mannan and that KS Ravikumar would be directing the film.
But today Prabhu spoke on behalf of Sivaji Productions and said that this news is totally baseless and was not sure from where such information crops up. He also added that his production house has no plans to remake any Rajinikanth film for now.
