While his last film Mersal was declared a winner and he has been chosen for the National Award, Thalapathy Vijay has begun his 62nd film today, the 19th January with a customary Pooja in Chennai. The film is directed by AR Murugadoss with whom Vijay has been teaming up for the third time after Thuppakki and Kaththi. The as yet untitled film is being bankrolled by Sun Pictures.
Sun Pictures took to social media to share the Pooja picture along with a tweet that read, “Shooting starts today for Sun Pictures’ #ThalapathyVijay62. #SunPicturesThalapathy62Begins”.
Keerthy Suresh is the heroine of the film who would be romancing Vijay for the 2nd time after Bairavaa. She took to Twitter to say, “The beginning of #Thalapathy62! Very happy to announce my next with Actor Vijay sir, AR Murugadoss sir and A.R. Rahman Thank you Sun Pictures”. Oscar winner AR Rahman would be composing for this film with Girish Gangadharan as the DoP and Sreekar Prasad as the editor. The film is announced to be a Diwali 2018 release.
