Chennai, May 22 (IANS) Despite an unsuccessful Telugu debut, southern actress Neelam Upadhyaya managed to find a strong foothold in the industry. She credits luck for her success and says it is vital to survive in the competitive industry.

"I give prime importance to luck as I believe I'm in the industry due to it, while there are still so many aspiring actresses waiting for a break. I have also been lucky enough to keep myself busy even after an upsetting debut. If my career is going places, I truly believe luck has a part to play in it," Neelam, who debuted with "Mr. 7" in 2012, told IANS.

"Luck also helps you beat competition at times and lets you stay in the race," said Neelam, who is currently awaiting the release Telugu comedy "Action 3D". She has also started working in another Telugu and a Tamil film.

Quizzed about her working experience in the first Telugu 3D film, she said it was "enriching" and "mesmerising".

"It's amazing how we co-incidentally came up with a first 3D film while our industry completes 100 years. The experience was enriching and it was truly mesmerising to see how something so simple we've done off-screen look so elaborate on screen with the 3D glasses," she said.

"I'm lucky to be a part of such a film with an ensemble cast at such an early phase of my career," added Neelam, who is currently in final year of pursuing her bachelors degree in English Literature.

"Action 3D", India's first Telugu 3D picture, is directed by Anil Sunkara.

The film also features Allari Naresh, Shaam, Vaibhav Reddy, Sneha Ullal, Ritu Barmecha and Kamna Jethmalani in important roles. It is slated to release May 31.
