Feb 28, 2013 NR

Mani Ratnam’s Kadal that starred debutants Gautham Karthik and Thulasi Nair was a flop. Recently the theatrical distributor of the film, Mannan Films, has filed a case against the director.

Mani Ratnam’s home production, Madras Talkies had sold Kadal to Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) for a huge sum. Mannan Films had bought the film’s theatrical rights for about Rs 16 Crore from Gemini Film Circuit. As the film did not do well, the distributor suffered heavy loss and even protested outside the director’s office in Alwarpet.

Mannan Films recently filed a complaint with the Chennai city police, against the director, for the heavy losses.

However, Madras Talkies has been maintaining that they have no contract with Mannan Films.

In the meantime, a petition was filed at Abhiramapuram police station, on behalf of Mani Ratnam, requesting protection for his house.

It is heard that the commissioner of police has offered personal police protection for Mani Ratnam. Click the Movie button below for more info:
