Samuthirakani as union leader in 'Sanga Thalaivan'

Actor-director Samuthirakani will be playing the role of a union leader in the upcoming film 'Sanga Thalaivan', directed by Manimaran. It is produced by director Vetrimaran under his banner Grassroot Film Company.

Manimaran, who is an erstwhile assistant of Vetrimaran, has directed films like ‘Udhayam NH4’, ‘Poriyalan’ and ‘Pugazh’. The film also stars VJ Ramya of Vijay TV fame as the female lead. Actors Karunas and Sunu Lakshmi of 'Aram' fame are also part of the movie.

The story of the film is adapted from a popular Tamil novel ‘Thariyudan’ authored by Bharathinathan. Set in the areas of Salem, Erode and Tirupur, the film will focus on the lives of handloom weavers and the struggles they face in the current situation.
