Remove ordered cut from 'Udta Punjab' promos: Delhi HC
Jun 16, 2016 IANSA division bench of Justice Sunil Gaur and Justice P.S. Teji also directed the withdrawal of the said scene from online site YouTube.
The court directions came on a plea filed by a non-governmental organisation for the deletion of the scene from the promos as per the Bombay High Court order.
On June 13, the Bombay High Court overruled the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggestions for 13 cuts to the movie, slated for release on June 17.
"The court has set aside the 13 cuts demanded by the CBFCs' Revising Committee and cleared the film for release with one cut -- that of the hero shown urinating in public -- which we had already agreed to cut earlier," said lawyer Amit Naik for the film producers who had filed the case in the Bombay High Court.
The film has also to carry three disclaimers: "We do not promote the use of drugs", "We do not promote the use of cuss words", and "We are not attacking any particular state" -- and a reference to Pakistan, which the filmmakers have agreed to comply with.
