Recently, after Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ failed to make a mark at the box office because of which the distributors incurred heavy losses, the Being Human actor made an announcement that he would pay them back for their losses.
Salman's father, Salim Khan even spoke to a daily and said, “When a distributor suffers a loss, the producer needs to show some responsibility and share the burden. We, too, have done the same thing. We met a few of them and are trying to find a middle ground. We will pay back the distributors.”
And now we hear that the ‘Jagga Jasoos’ star, who is also the co-producer of the film would also compensate the distributors if his film fails.
During the media interactions for ‘Jagga Jasoos’, Ranbir said, “Personally, if my film fails and I am making money out of it, then I will pay back the distributors.”
He further added, “It is a healthy exercise. It has been going on since my grandfather's (Raj Kapoor) time in 1950s. The style of making films where everyone makes money, not just the producers but also distributors and exhibitors. It is a healthy exercise. If someone loses money on something and you have made money out of it, it's good to compensate. Like when ‘Mera Naam Joker’ released, distributors incurred losses. So, when ‘Bobby’ released, my grandfather gave a bigger share to the distributors than the exhibitors.”
Now that’s not only professional but indeed sweet too. May their tribe increase.
