'Pokiri' tops the fortnight's Telugu films
Jun 1, 2006 B. AnuradhaThe top five Telugu films are:
1. "Pokiri" - A novel plot and Mani Sharma's lilting music have made the film a money-spinner.
2. "Godavari" - Director Shekhar Kammula of "Anand" fame has dished out another love story set on a cruise from Rajahmundry to Bhadrachalam. And the attempt is a commercial success.
3. "Dhoolpet" - Tamil star Dhanush's "Dhoolpet" has opened well because of huge publicity. Though he impresses as a dejected lover, an overdose of action could mar the film's chances at the box office. Unlike last year, Telugu audiences are yet to give their verdict in favour of a dubbed film.
4. "Sri Ramadasu" - Relentless promotion has kept the film in the limelight. The unit has been seeking the blessings of numerous god-men, but audiences in B and C centres have yet to respond.
5. "Kithakithalu" - E.V.V. Satyanarayana's slapstick comedy has found an appreciative audience. Loosely inspired by "Sati Leelavati", the stage play kind of comedy has paid off.
