'Pokiri' may prove Mahesh's prediction right

Hyderabad, June 13 (IANS) Mahesh Babu claimed that his latest and sensational hit "Pokiri" would gross over Rs.400 million and create a new record. It seems his predictions may come true soon.

The top five Telugu films are:

1. "Pokiri" - Director Puri Jagannath's delightful narration and heroine Ileana's charm can make the prediction of young star Mahesh Babu come true.

2. "Godavari" - Director Shekhar Kammula's romantic comedy set on a cruise is doing solid business even in C centres. Sumanth and Kamilini Mukherjee score another hit while Kammula joins the list of truly successful filmmakers.

3. "Pandem Kodi" - The dubbed version of Tamil film "Sandai Koli" has turned out to be a surprise hit. The love track of Vamsi and Meera Jasmine and the gory action have changed the film's fortunes after the dismal opening. The credit for the film's success goes to an effective promotional campaign.

4. "Hanumanthu" - Actor Srihari's much-hyped patriotic saga is gradually sliding down due to a contrived plot. However, Srihari's performance as a 'martyr' has won kudos.

5. "Kithakitalu" - Comedy maker E.V.V. Satyanarayana makes a strong comeback besides launching his son Naresh as a hero with the film. The joke-a-minute script makes it a winner.
