Chiranjeevi appeal keeps 'Stalin' on top
Nov 28, 2006 B. AnuradhaThe top five Telugu films are:
1. "Stalin": With its appeal visibly on the wane, the film by A.R. Murugadoss
is bound to give way to new releases soon. But for now, Chiranjeevi's magic helps it stay on top.
2. "Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw": Director Nidhi Prasad's remake of Hindi hit "Maalamaal Weekly" seems to have worked well. The comedy has been drawing good crowds and the band of comedians led by Rajendraprasad is the USP of the film.
3. "Samanyudu": Actor Jagapati Babu, who plays a journalist in this film, has delivered a hit after a long hiatus. The novelty lies in the protagonist reforming the antagonist and then going on a killing spree. This is one of the surprise hits of the year.
4. "Bommarillu": Even after completing 100 days, the feel-good entertainer has sustained in select theatres and is drawing good collections. Though the comedy dominates the proceedings to the extent of diluting the plot, Andhraites are patronising the film generously.
5. "Gopi Godameeda Pilli": With no big films around, the comedy of writer-turned-director Janardhan is pulling in moderate crowds. Allari Naresh and big-time comedians come together in this tale of a human chameleon who changes colours to suit his convenience.
