The shooting of a few opening scenes for Vikram-starrer 'Kandasamy" in Mexico recently has paved the way for a collaboration with that country in the field of film production.

Producer Kalaiipuli Thanu, director Susi Ganesan, Vikram, cinematographer Ekambaram, art director Thotta Tharani and other members of the unit originally headed for Kenya for the shooting , but in view of the raging civil war there, they shifted to Mexico where they were accorded a red-carpet welcome and felicitated at a State-sponsored dinner.

The Indian Ambassador to Mexico, Rinzing Wangdi, who is also accredited to Paraguay an Uruguay, attended the function along with the Mexican Governor and other authorities and film personalities.

Besides making Kalaipuli Thanu the honorary consul-general of Mexico in Chennai, the Mexican Government has come forward to make a Spanish film with Chiyaan Vikram in the lead. All the other actors will be from Mexico. This film will be co-produced by Kalaipuli Thanu and directed by Susi Ganesan. The Mexican officials and Kalipuli Thanu signed the agreement.

This is the honour done not only to the unit of "Kandasamy" but to Tamil cinema, Thanu and Susi Ganesan said with pride.

This is the first time a Tamil film unit has made a trip to Mexico for shooting. The trailer of " Kandasamy" so impressed the Mexican authorities that they extended all help and support to the unit. A helicopter was provided for the unit to select ideal locations for the shooting.

Vikram participated in an interactive session with the Mexican officials and others, and spoke a few words in Spanish and also danced with professional Salsa dancers.
