Vettaiyadu...released, Kamal remuneration issue settled
Aug 25, 2006 PVSDirector Gautam Menon, composer Harris Jayaraj and cinematographer Ravi Varma have come together for the first time for this action thriller. It is Gautham's third film after "Minnale" and "Kaakka Kaakka", both were proven hits.
Producer Manickam Narayanan of Seventh Channel has taken the responsibility of making the film which was in the doldrums from day one for one reason or the other and completed it.
The release of the film eventually took place after the remuneration due to Kamal has been fully paid by the producer with Sarath Kumar in his capacity as president of the Nadigar Sangam (Artistes Association) playing the mediator.
The project hit the snags from the beginning. Originally it was to have been produced by Kaja Maideen. But later it was taken over by Oscar Films Ravichandran. It again changed hands and it fell on the lot of Manickam Narayanan to complete the film.
The shooting started in Chennai and later important scenes, stunts and dances were filmed in the United States where the crew stayed for more than a month.
When the shooting was completed and the film was ready, fresh financial problems cropped up delaying its release. A few days ago, it was announced that all the problems had been solved and the film would be released on Aug. 25. At this stage, Kamal made a complaint to Nadigar Sangam to intervene and settle the issue of payment of remuneration still due to him from Manickam Narayanan. Following this Sarath Kumar as president of Nadigar Sangam held conciliation talks with Kamal and Narayanan on Aug. 24 morning and settled the matter amicably paving the way for the release of the film as scheduled on Aug.25.
