Even during the shooting of the film, the actors were attacked near Kaliyakaval.
The Lion Paul Association was refused permission by the police to hold a demonstration in front of the Collector's office at Nagercoil on the morning of Nov.1. However, the association's legal adviser Sajiv Kesavan, president David Raj and secretary Jose and some 25 others gathered in front of the Collector's office to stage a protest. When the police tried to disperse them, the protesters resisted the police creating a tense situation. The protesters later presented a petition to the District Collector seeking a ban on the film, which, according to them, portrays a section of the people in the district in bad light.
Association legal adviser Sajiv Kesavan told reporters that they saw the trailer showing the shots of a particular section of the people indulging in smuggling activities and raiding police stations. The association leaders met Director Vadivudaiyan and producer Senthilkumar and wanted them to remove the 'controversial' scenes. The director and the producer assured them the film would be screened specially for them before its release and obtain their approval.
Talking to reporters, Karan said Kanyakumari's literacy rate is the highest in the country and this is what is all about the film. Some sequences are based on the true life of some people living in the district. The association's inferences are wrong and as the director Vadivudaiyan himself belongs to Kanyakumari district, it is unthinkable that the film would belittle any persons or community in the district, he said.
