Chennai, March 26 (IANS) In a case of real life imitating reel life, an estranged couple was brought together by the recently released Tamil movie "Mercury Pookkal".

The film deals with a young man and woman forced into a life together by an arranged marriage. The two fall in love but their reluctance to acknowledge the fact creates problems that the rest of the film resolves.

Popular actor Srikanth plays grumpy groom Karthik while Meera Jasmine plays bride Anbuchelvi. Their roles in the film reunited Murugan and Saraswati here after a separation of two years.

According to the Tamil media, the couple called on Srikanth at his residence and thanked him for his role that led to their reunion. The star posed with them for an all-smiles photograph.

Director S.S. Stanley is credited with the view that good films can be made about "ordinary people's ordinary lives". His "Mercury Pookkal" has certainly changed one couple's life.

As part of his promotion campaign, the film's producer, Bharati Reddy, presented a gold chain and a ring to the couple.
