Tamil Cinema Industry bags 14 National Awards

Tamil Industry bags 14 awards for the first time in the National Awards. The 58th national awards for feature and non-feature films of 2010 were announced by the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ambika Soni.


The list starts with actor Dhanush, who won the prestigious Best Actor award with Malyalam actor Salim Kumar for his heartbreaking performance in 'Aadukalam'. And Superstar Rajnikanth's record breaking 'Enthiran' directed by Shankar has won three National awards for the Best production design, Best art director and Best special effects. Similarly, Dhanush's 'Aadukalam', directed by Vettrimaran has won five prestigious awards: Best actor (Dhanush), Best director (Vettrimaran), Best original screenplay (Vettrimaran), Best choreography (Dinesh) and Best Editing.


Moreover, Saranya Ponvannan won the Best actress award for her heart-breaking performance in 'Thenmerku Paruvakatru'. She will be sharing the award with Marathi actress Mitali Jagtap.


And Vairamuthu won the best lyricist award for the same film. Thambi Ramiah won the best supporting actor category for his wonderful performance role in 'Mynaa'.

Best Malayalam film: 'Veettilekkulla Vazhi'


Best Tamil film: 'Thenmerkku Paruvakkatru'


Special mention: 'Aadukalam' (Tamil)


Special jury award: 'Kabira Khada Bazaar Mein' (Hindi)


Best cinematography: Madhu Ambat for 'Adaminte Makan Abu' (Malayalam)


Best screenplay (Original): Vetrimaran for 'Aadukalam' (Tamil)


Best audiography: Kaamod Kharade for 'Ishqiya' (Hindi)


Best editing: TE Kishore for 'Aadukalam' (Tamil)


Best production design: Sabu Cyril for 'Enthiran' (Tamil)


Best special effects: V. Srinivas & M. Mohan for 'Enthiran' (Tamil)


Best choreography: Dinesh Kumar for 'Aadukalam' (Tamil)


Best music direction (songs): Vishal Bhardwaj for 'Ishqiya' (Hindi)
