Rahman returns to top Tamil slot with 'Jillunu...'

Chennai, Aug 22 (IANS) It is after a long gap that a Tamil album by A.R. Rahman has hit the market, and the "Jillunu Oru Kadhal" is certainly different. It has hit the right chord with listeners and captured the top slot.

The top five Tamil albums are:

1. "Jillunu Oru Kadhal" - Music: A.R. Rahman. Rahman has given an old-world charm to this album, a 1950s touch. And it is growing on people, especially the title song.

2. "Vallavan" - Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja. Yuvan Shankar Raja churns out album after album and most of them are huge hits. This too is quite popular, especially the song "Loose penne" sung by Silambarasan and Blaze.

3. "Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi" - Music: Sabesh-Murali. If the Rahman album reminds music lovers of the Hindi songs of 1950s, this album is a reminder of Tamil songs of the same decade.

4. "Vettayadu Vilayadu" - Music: Harris Jayaraj. With the film to be released next week, the sales of the album are sure to pick up.

5. "Aran" - Music: Joshua Sridhar. This time Sridhar is not enjoying the kind of success he had with "Kadhal", but the song "Mugilae" sung by Srinivas is a hit.
