'Porukki' renamed as 'Adirudulla'
Sep 6, 2007 PVS
The title of a Sundar C-starrer has been changed from "Porukki" to "Adiruddulla" on the advice of the Film Producers Council and the State Government. The trend of giving Tamil films English titles has ended with the State Government announcing sops, including the waiver of entertainment tax for films with pure Tamil titles. But a new trend of giving titles like "Kettavan" and "Porukki" which are seemingly in bad taste has crept in. This was brought to the notice of the Film Producers Council which deliberated on the issue and advised film-makers to avoid such titles.
Complying with the Council's advice, Sakthi Chidambaram, the producer of the film which was originally titled "Porukki" which has Sundar C as the hero, has renamed it as "Adirudulla", which is Rajinikanth's punch-word in "Sivaji: The Boss".
