'Paari' actors selected on the streets of Salem

The upcoming film 'Paari', directed by Rajini, has the actors who are all new faces. The way they were selected is the high point of the venture.

Rajini says he and his unit literally took out a march winding its way through the streets of Salem looking for new faces to act in the film. Their exercise was not futile. They selected an autorickshaw driver, a mason, college students, persons who stage street plays and a poor old woman were picked up from the bus stand and shandy in Salem.

Of those selected Rahul plays the hero and Beena the heroine.

Rajini outlined the story: Ezhumalai is a building contractor. His son is Paari. He and his friends used to roam the streets without attending college. The father has no control over Paari. A girl named Epsy enters his life and he is reined in. The film tells what happens in Paari-Epsy life in vivid detail.

The unit rented a marriage hall and the new faces selected were given practice in acting. After a month-long practice session the shooting has started, according to Rajini.
