Fewer than five films are releasing this Deepavali which is just four days away. Never before has the Festival of Lights seen so small a number of films being released.

The shortage of theatres in rural areas and towns in Tamil Nadu is stated to be the main reason for many films ready for release being put on hold for now.

Only three major films hitting the screens for Deepavali are: Ajit-starrer "Aegan", Gautham Menon's "Varanam Aayiram" and Bharat-starrer "Seval".

The latest film to enter the list of those being postponed is Madhavan's "Guru En Aalu" which is a remake of the Hindi film "Yes Boss" starring Shah Rukh Khan. Others originally scheduled for Deepavali but put off are: "Abhiyum Naanum" and Simbu's "Silambattam". "Saamida" and "Megham" are also being postponed. These films are now expected to be released in the next two months.
