Mammoth dubbing for 'Dasavatharam'

The voices of 5,000 people are to be dubbed at one go for a devotional scene in "Dasavatharam" featuring Kamal Haasan in ten different roles, at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.


This scene of a mammoth religious procession in which 10,000 people will participate chanting hymns and shouting slogans.


The effect of 5000 voices can be created with only 10 persons dubbing their voices at a time using the digital technology. But producer Oscar Ravichandran and director K.S. Ravikumar have drafted 10,000 people to make the scene realistic. Preparations are being made at the stadium for this mega dubbing.


Kamal has given ten different voices for the ten different roles he is sporting in the film, it is said. A separate microphone has been used for each voice to make it distinct. As many as 100 specialist computer engineers are working under the direction of sound engineer Sridhar.


Two Hollywood stunt directors are in Chennai to help Kamal in stunt scenes. They have praised Kamal's stunts without dupes and they have expressed a desire that he join the Hollywood Stunt Artistes Association, it is learnt.


Two more songs are to be shot. The locations will be the Nehru Indoor Stadium and the Film City where the gorgeous sets are being erected at a cost of Rs. 3 crore under the direction of art director Thotta Tharani.


America, Malaysia, Chennai and Pichavaram near Chidambaram are the places where the shooting has taken place so far. The shooting will be completed towards the end of this month. Music cassettes and CDs will be released this month. Some stills have been officially released for the media. Pairing with Kamal are Asin and Mallika Sherawat
