Kamal eulogises Kannadasan at audio release function

‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan released the audio of ‘Pon Maalai Pozhudu’, directed by A.C. Durai, in Chennai. It was a matter of joy for the participants to have Kamal in their midst. This was unexpected as Kamal had taken a decision not to attend any public functions till the release of his mega movie ‘Vishwaroopam’. He made an exception in the case of ‘Pon Maalai Pozhudu’, for legend Kaviarasu Kannadasan’s grandson Aadhav is being introduced in the film as hero.

Kamal said Aadhav’s father late Kalaivanan Kannadasan was his friend and in the absence of Kalaivanan, he wished to felicitate Aadhav on his becoming a film hero.

He said it is the duty of artistes like him to support and commend Kannadasan’s grandson. He held Kannadasan in high esteem and is indebted to him as he was one of the teachers who taught Kamal Tamil without taking any money. There were days when he was overjoyed by merely touching Kannadasan.

Kamal said he is very happy that the poet’s grandson has entered cinema and fans would welcome him with claps “which are like a tonic for artistes”.

‘Pon Maalai Pozhudu’ has Gayathri playing opposite Aadhav.

K. Amrithagowri has produced the film under the banner of A.G. Creation.

Lyricist Vairamuthu, directors A.R. Murugadoss, Pandiraj and GNR Kumaravel and producer T. Siva were among others who attended the function. Co-producer Sathya Lakshmi welcomed the gathering. Director A.C. Durai proposed a vote of thanks.
