Feud between Parthiban and makers of 'Ambuli'?

Sep 14, 2011 PS

Actor-director Parthiban is in the news again. And this time, for refusing to dub for his portions in 'Ambuli 3D'! He also allegedly walked out of the studio citing various reasons.

It's being reported that Parthiban saw the film recently and was surprised to find that there were several scenes of him in the film for which he didn't shoot. Apparently, the directors, Hari Shankar and Haresh Narayan, used a body double for Parthiban to can a few scenes after the artist refused to act following payment issues. However, when contacted, Parthiban had a different story to tell. "There is no problem between me and the directors over dubbing issues. In fact, I haven't even seen the film yet. I'm quite busy with 'Vithagan' and I was told that 'Ambuli' would release only after 'Vithagan'. So, I still haven't started dubbing for the film yet," he explains.

Director Hari Shankar is flummoxed by the stories too. "Parthiban has a guest role in the film and he's given us full cooperation right from the beginning. During the audio launch of the film, we told him that dubbing work is on for the film and asked him when he would like to start his portions. But he said he'd like to watch the full film first before starting dubbing. So, we will screen it for him in the next two days," said the director.

So, what about reports that body doubles were used for Pathiban's sequences without his knowledge? "We have used a body double for just a fight sequence and that too, with Parthiban's consent. He knows which portions were shot with a body double. Also, there's no payment due to him. To be frank, we settled the full amount due to him during the earlier stages of filming," he clarifies.
