Kochadaiyan lead players Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone shot for a full-fledged classical dance number when the unit was shooting in Kerala, according to reports.

Deepika was not part of the team that had gone to London for the first 20-day schedule. She joined the unit in Kerala a few weeks ago. A traditional dance set to classical beats was picturised in Kerala featuring Rajini and Deepika.

Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan is said to have conceptualized this number composed by A.R. Rahman. It was rehearsed for three days and shot over two days, reports said.

Deepika knows Bharatanatyam and Kathak. It was five years ago when she made her Bollywood debut Om Shanti Om that she performed a classical dance for the opening beats in the Dhoom Tana…

"Deepika did not have much trouble getting the steps right for the dream sequence song" in Kochadaiyan.

The reports quoted Saroj Khan as saying,"It's after a long time that I am part of a Tamil film, and I'm glad it happens to be a Rajinikanth one. The number is picturised on Deepika and Rajini, and both have put their heart and soul into this number. The classical sequence has come out very well, and will be much talked about."
