'Billa' selected for Cannes festival

Ajith-starrer "Billa", an action entertainer which has received rave reviews, has been selected the Cannes film festival.

It will be screened on May 18 in the non-competitive section.

Vishnuvardhan directed the film which is the modern version of the 1980 super-hit "Billa" featuring Rajinikanth.

Released towards end of 2007, the modern, Hollywood-style "Billa" was filmed entirely in Malaysia. It turned out to be a trend setter for commercial cinema in Tamil.

Ananda Suresh, the producer, feels it is a great honor that a Tamil film like Billa has been invited for the most prestigious film festival in the world.

He says that Vishnuvardhan, the stylish make-maker, Ajith and the entire team of Billa made it with a lot of passion.
