Billa 2 release may be postponed till May 25

The much-hyped Ajith-starrer Billa 2 is supposed to be released in May first week to coincide with the actor's birthday. But now it looks doubtful. The ongoing strike by members of the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) has upset the schedule. A still song and a week's patchwork remain to be completed. The film has been shot in 93 countries starting from Tamil Nadu and covering Europe. But the progress of post-production work is not as brisk as it should be. In the circumstances, the release of the film on Ajith's birthday is ruled out and the unit seems reconciled itself to the delay. A unit source, however, sounds positive that the audio will be launched next month. All the songs have come out very well, he says.

The latest talk is that the delay in releasing the film is inevitable and if all goes well, it will hit the screens on May 25, if not earlier.

The news may perhaps depress Parvathy Omanakuttan Nair, who has played a central role in Billa 2. She is the one who eagerly looked forward to the film's release on Ajith's birthday. It is evident from her interaction with the media that she is now relaxed. She is quoted as saying that "I want to be part of good cinema, and a good work environment. I think that helps in bringing out the best in not just the actors but also the entire team. I am glad I experienced that while working in Billa 2. It is a big film and the presence of Ajith Kumar makes it bigger. What I am happy about is that I will be seen in a role that most people do not expect from a beauty queen in her first Tamil film. My goal is to make a space in the hearts of the people. And I am very sure I will achieve it with Billa 2."

Meanwhile, to capitalize on Parvathy's growing popularity in Chennai, the makers of her two-year old Hindi flick 'United 6', which bombed at the BO, has been released in Chennai theatres ahead of Billa 2.

Would this not affect Billa 2? Producer Sunir Kheterpal is not bothered. He reasons that Parvathy is introduced in Billa 2 in Tamil. It is about Ajith and his life before he became Billa and not about what Parvathy did before she was selected for this film.
