Big push for 'Kireedam' audio sales

Jul 11, 2007 PVS

As many as five lakh audio cassettes and CDs of Ajith-starrer "Kireedom" have been released by Big Audio, which is part of 92.7 Big FM radio of the Reliance Group. "Kireedom" is the first film produced by Reliance's Adlabs in collaboration with Suresh Balaji's Sujatha Cine Arts.

Big Audio has so far confined itself to Hindi films and released cassettes and CDs of may Hindi films. "Kireedom" is the first Tamil film for which this organization has bought the audio rights. Besides releasing five lakh cassettes and CDs of this film, Big Audio has organized through Big FM the relay of songs in phone-in programmes at intervals of one hour. A lot of listeners enthusiastically participate in this programme, it is said.

"Kireedom", directed by debutant Vijay (a one-time assistant of Priyadarshan) is a remake of the Malayalam movie of the same title directed by Sibi Malayil. N. Muthukumar has written the songs for the Tamil version and G.V. Prakash is the music director.

It is touted as the next big release after "Sivaji: The Boss" and is expected to hit the screen shortly. It was to have been released on May 1 to coincide with Ajith's birthday. The uncertainty over the date of release of "Sivaji" delayed its release.

Trisha plays Ajith's heroine. Raj Kiran plays the role of Ajith's father. Saranya is also in the cast. Ajith's last film was "Alwar" which was not as successful as expected. The actor hopes "Kireedom" would give him a big break.
