The much-awaited Tamil blockbuster "Anniyan" is finally set to be released worldwide tomorrow (17th June 05'). The D-Day for the director Shankar and star hero Vikram has finally arrived. In almost all the theatres there where mad rush at the theater counters when the advance booking was opened. It is evident from the fantastic response at the booking counters that there is good news in the waiting for the moviemakers.

The buzz is that the tickets have already been sold out for all shows for the next 14 days of its release, in all the theaters in Tamil Nadu where the movie is being released. Even as the final count down for the movie release has just started, there seems to be no let up in the demand for advance booking.

To cater to the unprecedented demand, theater owners in Tamil Nadu are planning to increase the number of shows per day. Sources in Mayajal: one of the largest multiplex in Chennai said, "To meet the crazy demand for tickets that they are contriving to add one more show to the current four shows". Similarly other multiplexes in Chennai are planning to increase the number of shows in a day.

Similarly, a source in Sathyam Cinemas (having a seating capacity of 1260) said that the tickets for all 28 shows in first week were sold out. To meet the growing demand, they are planning to open booking for third week, breaking the convention of two-week advance booking.

Theater owners in Kovai territory are reporting similar news. In Kerala too, the movie is taking a bumper opening similarly to what can be witnessed for a Mohanlal or Mammootty film. The movie is being released in two theaters simultaneously in 10 towns. This is a phenomenon for a Tamil movie.

"Anniyan" as expected will take an extraordinary opening. Let us wait for one more day to know the peoples' reaction to the move after they have actually seen it.
