Actor 'Power Star' Srinivasan arrested

Actor ‘Power Star’ Srinivasan was arrested on Sept.14 on charges of cheating a businessman of Rs. 65 lakh promising to get him a loan of Rs.10 crore.

Srinivasan, who is a physician, directed and acted in the film ‘Lathika’ (2011). He later made guest appearances in ‘Mandapam’, ‘Unakkaga Oru Kavithai’,

‘Neethana Avan’ and ‘Indrasena’. He is currently acting in Santhanam’s first production ‘Kanna Laddu Thinna Asaiya’.

The arrest of Srinivasan, who runs a finance company, Baba Trading, on Poonamallee High Road, followed a complaint from G.U. Balasubramanian, proprietor of RBS International, Chromepet. He alleged in his complaint that the actor had taken the money promising to get him a loan of Rs.10 crore six months ago.

Srinivasan had neither arranged for the loan nor returned the Rs.65 lakh received from him. He also alleged that Srinivasan, who had been dodging him, threatened him at gunpoint when he approached him at his Anna Nagar residence.

Police registered a case against Srinivasan on charges of criminal breach of trust, cheating, and criminal intimidation. He was remanded in judicial custody and lodged in Puzhal prison.

According to police sources, many others also had alleged that Srinivasan had taken money in lakhs from them offering to get them loans and defrauded them.
