A.R. Rahman to speak on his film project in December

There has been talk in film circles for the last one-year that music director A.R. Rahman has been working to start his own film production company. A source very close to Rahman has now made it public that the Oscar award winner (Slumdog millionaire), has in fact launched his production venture and it would produce his own films and also films for others. Reports that had appeared a few months ago gave the name of his production company as ‘Y.M. Movies’. At that time Rahman had played the cards close his chest.

“It is true Rahman has started his production company. For the last few months he had been working hard to firm up the organizational set-up of his venture keeping his work under wraps. According to my information he will also act in his first production,” the source said.

When contacted, Rahman confirmed the launch of his production house. He said his 10-year-old son A.R. Ameen will be introduced in his first film. Besides Ameen, many other kids will be part of the movie, Rahman said.

He is yet to come out with all the details of his venture. Questions like whether his maiden film would be in Hindi or in any South Indian language remain to be answered. The buzz is it will be a musical in Hindi. He would formally announce his project in December. “I will speak on it only in December,” he said.
