Tamil actress Pooja - Pooja Gautami Umashankar if you want it in full - makes her entry into Malayalam cinema with Panthayakozhi. Pooja, who hails from Karnataka, was born in Sri Lanka and made her entry into films with the Saran-directed Madhavan-starrer Jay Jay and then did Pattiyal, Thambi Thangappansamy, Pori etc.

Now, with the M.A. Venu-directed Panthayakozhi, Pooja is coming over to steal the hearts of Malayalee film buffs. Pooja plays the heroine opposite Narein, who is the hero of the film produced by Lal of Lal Creations. Pooja feels that she is indeed lucky to make her debut in Malayalam doing a film produced by such a reputed banner.

Pooja had earlier been invited to play the female lead in the Shaji Kailas-directed Dileep-starrer The Don, but couldn't do so owing to her other assignments. She is happy doing Panthayakozhi and adds -"I am lucky Lal sir chose me to do this film. We had known each other earlier itself. We have worked together in the Tamil film Oram Po. I hope the elite audience of Kerala accepts me'. Let's hope so!
