Yediyurappa's action pleases Kannada film industry

Karnataka Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa spent some quality time with the people of Kannada film industry when he inaugurated the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce Building in Bangalore recently. The new cabinet's decision to allot 2.5 acres for memorial for Dr. Raj Kumar and to allot a site to Master Kishen has really enthused the representatives of the Kannada film industry.



Expressing happiness over this decision, Mr. Raghavendra Raj Kumar, son of thespian Dr. Raj Kumar and also an actor and producer in the Kannada film industry says that he is extremely gratified that the new Chief Minister took a quick decision about a long pending project. However he says that the memorial needs an additional land of 1.5 acres to fecilitate the completion of Dr. Raj Kumar museum and a Yoga centre. It is too well known that Dr. Raj Kumar was a well known yoga exponent himself.


Speaking at the KFCC function Yediyurappa had said that problems related to the release of 2.5 acres of land for the Dr. Raj Kumar 'Samadhi' have been cleared.


He said that the Government will be purchasing the land and would give it to the Dr.Rajakumar Memorial Foundation trust. The state government has already released Rs.6 crores for the Dr.Rajakumar Memorial so far and remaining four crores would be made available shortly, assured the Chief Minister.


The Chief Minister also said that all the problems of the Kannada film industry can be solved if the industry would present them properly and personally come to meet him for solutions.


A 50 x 80 site will be given to Master Kishen who has done so much for the Kannada film industry, winning laurels for his spectacular achievement in directing the film "Care of Footpath".


Veteran film producer and distributor K.C.N. Kumar said that the Karnataka Chief Minister has already made a good beginning and he hoped that the new information minister Katta Subramanya Naidu will also rise to the occasion to solve many problems plaguing the industry.


Talking about the spate of flops in the film industry, Kumar hoped that the government will revive the hundred percent tax exemption to all Kannada films produced in the state. Now, only Kannada films based on original stories are being given the hundred percent tax exemption.
